Reviews
Food excellent. Service a little slow. A business type deal with perhaps owner or manager concerning wine or champagne took place behind our table. This seemed very inappropriate and made our dining experience less enjoyable.
Service was great! Atmosphere was quaint and food was delectable!
Food was very good and so was the service. It was a week day so we were the only ones in restaurant.
Food was mediocre. Service was good. Dining room is cramped and dated.
The service was great very helpful and went above and beyond.
We sat down at our reservation time, but it took a full 30 minutes before we got our wine and ordered. No bread was offered. After that delay the rest of the service was more timely.
The food was cooked to perfection.
Great atmosphere, food and service A+A+A+++
The food was bland, lukewarm, over cooked and some of the vegetables tasted like they came from a can. That was the vegetable crepe. The stuffed chicken was bland and had the consistency of being boiled. I was a big fan of the restaurant 20 years ago. This was a huge disappointment.
I don't usually order fish when dining out, but the scrod I was served last night was excellent!
delicious food and personalized service
The French onion soup was fabulous. All entrees were great, and the desserts were to die for! Service was great also. We lingered for quite a while, and despite the fact that the hour was late, we did not feel at all rushed by the wait staff.
Always wonderful.
Always great friendly service. Wonderful relaxing atmosphere and of course delicious food!
We always enjoy dining here. The staff is exceptional and the quality of the food second to none.
The atmosphere was charming and the service was excellent.
Excellent service. Quiet, comfortable ambience
Wonderful ambiance; great food
we were disappointed with the food-it was very bland-for a french restaurant we expected more taste-the pasta dish i ordered was dry with only one piece of lobster-my husbands lamb was very bland-for the price it should be great
PRESENTATION!!!!!
Great ambiance. Food is always excellent.
The only thing that you may want to change is bread--it should be French, not Italian, or offer both if you think some folks prefer the soft Italian style.
awesome food; one lamb and one beef, mmmmmmm
We love this restaurant!! We come back for our anniversary dinner and special occasions..Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance. A true gem.
Great service!! Hot rolls. Wine glass constantly refilled :)
Delicious food, very nice waitress and it's nice that the owner always stops by your table to see how everything is.
food great
My Fiance and I go to this restaurant about 5-6 times a year and have always loved it!! The attention to detail in the past was great! However when we went last week, apparently the owner added more tables to the already very small restaurant. It has lost its cozy intimate atmosphere. Besides being on top of the table next to you, the aisles are so narrow that our waitress had to stand and wait to deliver our food because another waitress was in the aisle taking an order. More tables were added, but not more help. I had to ask three times for lemon for my water and was told that the help had to wait for it as the bartender was fixing his computer and had to cut up a lemon. someone walks around with a basket and you take your bread from it, usually they are there right after you finish you slice, but we had to wait to get more & quite a while as they could not come down the aisles, also waited for refills on water. When we arrived they asked us if we were going to PPAC for a show, out reservation was for 5:45, show was at 8, pleanty of time, well when we finalloy got to order our dessert, we ended up waiting so long for it that we had to choke it down because it was 7:30 and we had to get to the show. We talked to the waitress about them adding more tables and the waitress have been there a while and they do not like it either...apparently the owner wants more tables to make more money, but it definitly lost what we loved about this cozy little place. Sad - my parents are coming home from Florida for a wekk and we took them there before and they want to go back but we told them after our last experience we will not go there and will find an alternate place on Federal Hill. Food was still great, but it was hte other little things that we liked that are gone.
Nice atmosphere, good food and service. Great bread.
The food was awesome and there were vegetarian entrees which pleases me. The service was outstanding too. We had a very pleasant greeter and a lovely waitress.
the waiter was attentive and the food was excellent
Very authentic, great experience
Professional service with culinary perfection. Tres bon!
Wait staff was very helpful. The meal was delicious!
reliably delicious
Service was slow and unresponsive. Bartender sent a kids drink to our table without our asking for it and then it showed up on our bill.
Good Food but Small Portions at High Prices
Great romantic dinner for Valentines Day
We love this restaurant and were in the mood for French. Everyone is very attentive and helpful without being over bearing. And we love that it is the same great food - every time.
Very good service and the food is always excellent
Great experience. Wonderful food.
The food and service was amazing. I would love to come back and visit more often and will based on being able to purchase discount certificates through restauant.com
Great setting, quiet romantic, good food and service.
The warm setting and friendly staff make for an excellent dining experience.
Excellent waitress, food and service
Growing up in the area and being a culinary graduate, I've always wanted to try this restaurant. The food and service were good. We had a great night, but it is overpriced. It was a splurge and we looked at it as such. I have eaten this food in France and it is not this expensive. I realize we were paying for the restaurant name and it's association with Julia Child.
The food is wonderful! We've loved it every time we've been. The service is excellent and it's a very nice place! Good food, with no pretentiousness! Very nice!
Food and service have been consistently excellent for many years
Our waitress was great and she made the evening way more enjoyable and the food was fabulous.
They were very busy, much more so than they anticipated for a Thursday evening and unfortunately that affected the service. Long waits between order and courses. Also it is small so when it is full, it is very noisy to the point where is gets hard to carry on a conversation.
Delicious food. Fabulous service.
Our overall experience was excellent.
Always a great experience. A little bit of France right here in RI. Love the ambiance and of course the food it top notch!
The food is always excellent and it's always a pleasure to be served by Hilary, our lovely bartender/waitress.
Food full of flavor!
Old fashioned good French cuisine in a lovely ambiance.
Kudos to the entire staff for excellent food and service on a very hot Saturday night in July!!!
This is a wonderful place to eat in Providence. We are glad that we found it and will return again.
The food was a TEN on a scale of 1 to 5. :) The service impeccable, the owner charming. A hugely successful dining experience.
This is one of the most enjoyable restaurants we've been to. The food is of such high quality.
Wonderful Beef Bourgogne and the best Creme Brulee'
Loved the atmosphere! Food was excellent.
Expensive, but well worth the money.
The food and mixed drinks were good but not excellent, while the prices were closer to what I expect excellent to cost. The wine was excellent.
We love the Pot au Feu and will continue to eat there. Great atosphere and food and managment that cares. Thanks.
For the price of meals they need to return to a completly excellent meal; the bread and salad was just ordinary, the entree remains good,
The onion soup was the best ever. The duck was fantastic and the apple tart was fantastic.
no longer is the warm bread server circulating the diningroom. Portion size of my entree was smaller than in past visits and quality was not the same. Overall disappointing. Will visit again in case my experience was had during an off night.
This place was outstanding, thank you Restaurant.com for telling us about it. The atmosphere, service, and taste, were all great!
The food is always excellent and the service far above average. POT au feu has been around for many years with good reason. Always a treat.
Owner was extremely rude. He refused to honor our Restaurant.com certificate on the iPhone app. He was extremely rude and condescending. Would never give that restaurant any business again!
Every time I eat here I thoroughly enjoy the experience. This is the first time we have eaten in the Bistro and was just as positive as upstairs.
AVERAGE PRESENTATION AND TASTE QUALITY FOR THE PRICE OF FOOD OFFERINGS
SECOND TIME THERE WITH YOUR COUPONS. NOW OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO BE "ALONE". SO INTIMATE AND CHARMING. MY WIFE AND i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
food was over priced and simple, menu was misleading, martini was pathetic
Overall good meal. We'd love to see them use/advertise local ingredients.
Good food but expensive.
service was slow, and they hardly came to our table with the bread basket.
Consistently superb.
Superb meal and service
loved the food and the place. will definately eat there again.
The food was fantastic and the ambience made it feel like we were really in a little restuarant in France.
I felt the food was Ok but bot exceptional for the price. Loved the service and the decor.
The Best Chicken Livers My Husband Ever Ate!
great service
Have been to resturant many years ago. Having the coupon added to our decession to return. Food was as delicious as remembered.
We felt it was pricey but the food was good. I think french food isnt quit our style.
Superb service. Excellent food.
We love French food and Pot au Feu was at the top of the list of places we've had lately. Def go back if we are in Providence again.
Greast atmosphere and food. In the past had parked in the adjacent lot, no fee, this time we were charged $5 each for 2 cars.
Need more vegetarian items.
Meal, Drinks and Service was excellent. Even the owner was kind enough to visit every table to inquire. Only complaint was cramped quarters.
Phenomenal!
seating was cramped, the wait staff kept bumping into my boyfriend en route to other tables, but otherwise a wonderful meal.
please continue opportunities for this restaurant...We love it!!!
Fantastic restaurant - lovely ambiance, delicious food, ideal service!
It was a great chance to dine at restaurant that most times i could not afford, and experience the food. Great Place!
Wonderful atmosphere, inviting service, and the food was super. No complaints.
Definately will return with another restaurant.com coupon, otherwise, too expensive. Very good, though.
This was a charming experience and I will be back
Great food wonderful service. I will be back
WE TRULY FEEL WE GOT CHARGED FOR A 3RD BOTTLE OF WINE ALL FOUR IN OUR PARTY SAY WE HAD 2 BOTTLES PAUL HARRISON 401-529-4488
Food and atmosphere were great. Enjoyed visit from owner. Excellen service. We will visit again.
Tried to find where it limits coupon to "food only". Wine not included??
Needs vegetarian options. Cocktails too expensive. Otherwise, Owner, staff, and food were fabulous.
Never had a bad meal, have been coming for at least 30 yrs
One of our favorite restaurants for 25 years
We love this restaurant and have never had a bad experience! I enjoy using the restaurant coupons just as excuse to go!!
Excellent atmosphere and food. Great service. It was my birthday, and I didn't order dessert. The waiter brought a scoop of homemade whipped cream with a candle. What a nice surprise!
Pot Au Feu has been around for a very long time. We just decided to try it for our anniversary.
Very good restaurant with generous portions and great staff. Will visit again!
The food and the service were excellent
Foix Gras and filet mignon was amazing, but the vegetarian dish was over-salted (simpler would've been better). If I could afford to eat there again, I would, but the reason I went was because of restaurant.com. Only for special occasions if you're not wealthy.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food this time.
Very romantic with great food.
If I had not gotten a Restaurant.com certificate, I wouldn't have eaten there. I was disappointed because they said the certificate did not include alcohol despite the fact that it did not state that on the certificate itself. Most restaurants state no alcohol if that is their policy. We had to order more than we wanted to get the discount as a result.
Rookie mistake with the Bill
Service was just ok. Had to wait for bread. Way too expensive for what you get as far as quality goes and it was unbearably hot in the restaurant.
Wonderful experience. Atmosphere, service and food were top notch. Bravo to Bob Burke !
Favorite Restaurant in Providence
We were only 1 of three parties that were in restaurant that night. The service was excellent and don't believe it was because it was slow. The wait staff was very helpful with the menu and I was pleasantly please that when the wine we ordered wasn't in stock, they didn't try to upsell us another one, they kept the price in line accordly with the orginal bottle we ordered.
beef was delicious evening was overall A plus..thank you for participating in rest.com..it is incentive to dine out
We have eaten at Pot Au Feu many times over the years. The service was not up to past performances. Never did get any bread and that was always a nice touch--warm bread to go with your salad. In past, never did have to ask because came around frequently to offer more bread. There was only one server with a helper there that night and Mr. Burke himself was there helping because of a big party. The food was still very good.
It was nice that the meals came with sides and was not a la carte as with many Frech Restaurants. Also, the portions were decent and incredibly delicious.
the prices are a bit high so only with $75 or $100 restaurant.com discount coupons would I return as I allways have a party of 4 since this is how I spend time with my family.
Strangely, it appears that I was overcharged on the sales and meals taxes. This is the second time this has occurred in my two visits within the past four months.
Food and service is always top notch.
The food and service were excellent. It could have been faster service though being we were going to a show and gave ourselves 2 hours to eat it took forever just to get our drinks.
Ambience was fantastic. Was wonderful to have the owner Bob Burke come around and ask how the meal was and to introduce himself. Real classy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone else.
Experience was excellent as always. If we hadn't moved to central CT you would see us more often.
Great food, fun atmosphere, but a little expensive.
An exceptional experience, as if you travelled to France!
Will definitely go back - what a wonderful restaurant. Thank you.
wonderful dining expierence!!
the food was excellent and the place was so european. we loved it.
The decor of Pot au Feu is very pleasant and meaningful.
i feel that thier prices are over the top, the food at cafe nuovo and boucards which are far more superior are much less expensive. They need to get with the program that this country is in a recession.
Service was bad, staff was confused and the bread recipe seemed to have changed for the worse.
wonderful
as always,a wonderful dining experience; getting a tad pricey on some of the enteee items
Competely medicore food. Ingredients seemed subpar and nothing truly "wowed" us. Overpriced when there are many cheaper, tastier places to eat.
i HEARD ABOUT IT AT A TASTE OF RI RESTAURANTS AND IT WAS DELICIOUS. HOWEVER THE PRICE OF FOOD TO QAUNTITY OF FOOD WASN'T GOOD AND THE SERVICE WASN'T GOOD.
Wonderful rustic restaurant with amazing food. We would visit again!
Incorrect sales tax (overcharge) on bill that I did not notice until I returned home. Have tried calling, but cannot reach live person. Left message, but no reply. Website e-mail address does not work. Very poor website. Not kept up to date. Most links do not work. Contact e-mail address does not work.
Our entire dining experience was wonderful from appetizer through dessert and after dinner drinks. However, it is quite pricey and not for the faint of heart.
Excellent service and food!!
