Reviews
The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful , friendly , and did an amazing job to ensure that the experience was great .
The waitress seemed untrained. Didnt know what the soup de jour was and numerous other factors at this level. Food presentation was beautiful but no better than a meal I pay $15 for. Ambiance and environment was beautiful.
Just too expensive for what you get.Even after the $25 coupon it was $75 per person and that DID NOT include what the cost would have been had we wanted a salad and bread, which was an extra $16 per person. Not a good value. I truly am sorry for this review but NO salad and bread, really?
Our waiter, Tyler, treated us very well. He was very helpful in many ways. The food was great and very tasty and interesting.
Food always excellent. Some tried and true favorites that have been on the menu for years such as stuffed rigatoni. Best homemade spaghetti sauce and their homemade meatballs are to die for! Best pizza in town. Check it out
Service very slow. Food good + . Building need repair.. bar is expensive.
Wonderful service and AMAZING food! Large portions and well worth the money spent.
Dessert was not good. Ice cream sandwiches were too hard to eat and the combination of spices was not good. Steaks were excellent. Soup was excellent. Service was very good, but took a little too long.

We were expecting some bread with our entree since we did not order the full five course meal.
From the kind gentleman who greeted us to the meal and the waitstaff, the whole dining experience was wonderful...just like the old manor house.

Angus tips on a skewer were a little over-cooked for a $30 plate. Ambiance nice, paying for the experience, not the food.

Each room is so private with only a handful of tables and so beautiful. Didn't need a reservation Sunday evening there is always a table for 2.
Staff is incredibly attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is true to the historic nature of the structure.
This restaurant has changed from the past! First of all when checking in, the hostess got the manager to seat us as they take notes on past visits to the restaurant, we don’t appreciate that sort of welcome! Now there is a $5.00 bread service charge (not worth it). It was our 49th wedding anniversary and all we would receive is a plate with Happy Anniversary written in it, how cheap!! I declined the offer to bring that to our table! The filet was also tough and had some grissle in it! The garnish of one small carrot, one tiny potato, one small other green beginning, how pathetic! I don’t think we will eever patronize this restaurant ever again!!
Yard, unkempt. Walk, cracked and uneven. Shabbier than we have ever seen. Parking lot, holes. Food, raw, had to be sent back as pork is seldom served very rare.
Only 4 tables full but service was very slow. Only One waitress was working but she was very very nice. Hostess/manager stopped by several times to check on us too. Excellent fish fry was worth the wait
Food presentation was excellent and very well prepared.
The food and the atmosphere are always great! The servers are extremely friendly and attentive. The manager on the other hand was not near as pleasant ..
We had Rj as our Server, he was really friendly and attentive. the quality of food and wine selection was outstanding. We will be back. So grateful that this restaurant was one that participated through Restaurants.com
It's a nice family owned/run place. Great hearing the owner out visiting with the customers. Very friendly place.
great food and friendly staff
great food and friendly staff
We really enjoy eating here. Everyone is friendly. My husband and I do not eat mart and they make our meals as we ask. We love love love this place.
This place is always busy, especially on weekends. We were seated within 15 minutes of arriving. Waitress was so pleasant even though she was rushed. The food is always outstanding!
Briarhurst Manor is my favorite place to dine out, whether alone or new friends & business associates, to celebrate or just relax. I know the food & the service & the atmosphere will always be top notch!
Our most recent waiter (R.J.) was training a new waiter (Seth). Both of them were personable, friendly, and attentive. I believe I was there a while back when R.J. was himself training, and I noticed his acquired professionalism and knowledge of menu choices.
Our waiter was Jaime, who remembered me from last time. The service was impeccable. We can't wait to try the new delicious offerings from the fall menu!
Very busy the food tool a little long
This evening RJ was our server. I understand this was his first evening on the floor, and he was superb: attentive, cheerful, and conscientious. The food was incredible as we have come to expect from Briarhurst. We are almost never disappointed here!
The restaurant was busy but the manager was so personable and kept us informed about how quickly he would get us seated that it was pleasant waiting for a table. Food was great and wait staff was friendly and efficient.
My waitress was wonderful. The mussel appetizer was delicious, but the bass entree was too spicy. The fish was muddy, and the dessert was just fair.
Service, food and ambiance was exceptional!
While the food was very tasty, and the service was wonderful, the building itself really needs some attention, the rooms had things just sitting in the corners so to speak. The carpet was worn and plants in the entrance just haphazardly placed. The outside grounds have so much potential as well. It is obvious that this place was immaculate at one time it would be great to see it in its former glory.
Good prices and good food
Service is always wonderful! Owner is always checking to see if your doing good and very personable!
Beautiful surroundings, delicious food. Loved it all.
Everything was very good, the staff there are very friendly and nice.
Service was excellent.
Great food, great service....
This place is awesome. Very friendly. We love the old time feel in the restaurant. The food is amazing. We love places like this because it's not a big food chain everything is original, you have to love that part.
Everything was just great!
This is mine and my husband brunch weekday date. We come because it is close to our house, good food and great employees. Its clean, inviting and the people make it very welcoming. Incredible diner coffee! I enjoy the food and love the employees. I like the atmosphere as far as the history of Elk River on that street way back in the day, but the environment is out-dated and give me the impression that I am out of place when I go there. It could be a great hang out for twenty somethings in the area (which I am not), a fantastic place to impress a client without feeling like you're cheap, or a great place for young families (which I am closer to) to come in more often to have a meal. However, the environment screams 1960-70's and retirement. Reaching a new generation could breathe life into this place again and having it thriving with business for many many years to come.
This was the best meal we've ever had at the Briarhurst. The halibut was delicious!
Food was good but the seasoning was a little overwhelming.
one party's dinner was way undercooked and sent back as it was inedible. it took at least 10 minutes for it to come back. Meanwhile, the first person's dinner was almost eaten, so the two people ate by themselves, basically. No amends were made for this major inconvenience and dining mishap.
Food was great. Service was excellent and the staff remembered us even though we are only there a few times a year
Great staff, setting and service. Food was rated 9 to 7 with a average of 8.
Waiter was attentive and informative. The food was amazing! Baked Brie, Beef Wellington, the choc dessert was outstanding...
Fine dining at its best ! Wonderful for any occasion ! Great service , too.
Excellent service and outstanding dinners. We were able to eat in room where we could easily talk to each other without having other people, chairs and tables right next to you.
Nice setting, great service
I loved the pork dish! Everything was delicious.
Greeter and server were appropriately gracious and knowledgeable. Food was phenomenal.
The food was well prepared and tasty. No complaints!
Large servings!
The food was great and everyone was friendly and helpful.
Celebrating our 10th anniversary and this dining experience was excellent from start to finish!! Our waitress (Hannah) was a gem!
WE ALL ENJOYED OUR 5 COURSE MEAL..EVERYTHING WAS COOKED TO PROFECTION !!
The 5 course meal was superb! Out waiter, Elijah was a charm. He went over and above to make sure that we enjoyed the experience.
Our 6 course meal was superb, and out waiter Elijah went a I've a d beyond to make our meal and evening unforgettable.
Nice presentation, great flavors, pleasant waitstaff.
Our service and food was impeccable!
Service was fantastic.
Portions were sensibly sized and the variety of flavors and textures was excellent.
The staff was extremely friendly and competent. Our server, Melissa, was friendly, attentive and truly wanted to make sure our visit was special. My husband had the Pheasant and I had the Cordon Bleu. We both enjoyed our meals and will plan to visit again.
Everything is great.
Food is way over priced for the portion you receive. We were there for 2 1/2 hrs waiting at least 30+ minutes after the bread arrived for the salads to come, then another 30+ minutes for dinner to arrive. We skipped dessert because we were more than ready to leave. The waiter was great but it takes way to long for your food to arrive. Not a place to bring young children they are hungry and tend to get bored fast.
Best food and service ever! Our server went out of way to make us feel welcome and helped us celebrate our anniversary.
Very expensive
Amuse bouche was gristley, seated in a room with a rather loud party of 8 - not very romatic for an anniversary dinner.
Great food and atmosphere
new wait staff; young not as attentive to basics: lack of place setting, offering water glasses
The food didn't taste very good to our unrefined palate
This restaurant has excellent food and wonderful service in a comfortable environment. It was a pleasant surprise.
Food, service, and ambiance were perfect!
Overall it was very nice. For my personal preferences, a couple of the courses were not to my taste. The main course of salmon was excellent.
Atmosphere is lovely, food server was very efficient.
The pizza was great--crispy on the bottom and cheesey on top! The bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese was super and the salads were so very good.
Chicken calzone is the best. Fried calamari too.
Mushroom sauce was too thick with mushy tomatoes and hardly any mushrooms.
This isn't food, it's cuisine. The best of the best in an amazingly peaceful atmosphere. A great place for a celebration, anniversary, or any special occasion. A small menu, but something for every taste is on it.
Good service and food. Signage for entry door poor. No signage for hadicap drop off. Insufficient lighting in parking area. Hedge encroached narrow walway that was littered with leaves making it difficult to walk. Wife fell into hedge.
Darren was our waiter and he was outstanding! Nice atmosphere and very attentive service.
Food has always been good. This was better. Wait staff above & beyond.
WE ALL HAD A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE..WE WILL GO AGAIN !!
WE ALL HAD A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE..WE WILL GO AGAIN !!
Andrew was a great server!!
Great service by Amanda and great food!
Amanda, our server was wonderful!!
Our special occasion favorite.
Great selection of food, excellently prepared and the service was wonderful.
Not a lot of menu options
Beautiful setting, friendly staff, very good food, nicely paced between courses, perfect place for a special occasion
The steak dianne I had was good but had only a few mushrooms. the sauce was very salty and didn't taste homemade. The chicken leg and thigh was ok. kind of funny that such an expensive restaurant would serve the cheapest part of the chicken. vegetables portions were so small I don't think they even qualify as a whole serving. but nicely arranged!
cream for coffee was sour...seems like that should be checked before serving??
Add berries and cream to dessert menu. Bring back the duck salas. Keep chateaubriand on the regular menu. Hannah was a great server!
Fantastic atmosphere! Josh, our server, did an excellent job. He dusplayed a professional manner in facilitating our 5 course meal. The food was outstanding!
We love to come to the Briarhurst for special occasions and this time for our anniversiary was extremely favorable as each visit has been.
Waiter was overcommitted with too many tables
Food was delicious but portions were rather small.
Our experience at the Briarhurst was especially nice. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the time, and it was a treat she really appreciated. Thank you!
A wonderful evening, excellent food and service. We'll be back, definitely. Thanks!
The whole dinning experience was excellent!
The whole experience was excellent!
I really enjoyed the small dishes in-between the plates, the intermezzo and the starting palate cleanser. The food was presented excellently, but it didn't seem like the main dishes were awww inspiring. Not sure why...but I had the calamari and it was a bit overwhelming. Still really enjoyed the experience and would come back . Also, a lot of dishes had mushrooms, which made the choices very limited for a non-mushroom eater (just an FYI). I look forward to dining there again and trying another dish! Portions were perfect for each plate. Server was wonderful!
The Briarhurst Manor was the best in fine dining! Beautiful grounds and dining area, wonderful staff, and the most amazing food! This is what dining should be! I've never tasted food so well prepared!
Live in Kansas when traveling thru Col Spr. we use coupon to eat at Briarhurst
Loved it thank you, it was a nice date-night treat...
Make sure tables are level when put together for a group. We inadvertenly spilled a drink because of it.
This was a wonderful romantic place to eat. The food was Phenominal!
Pricy, but the food is outstanding.
over priced. There are other up scale restaurants we prefer where we had an excellent dining experience for half the price.
Everything was wonderful from the food to the service. This was a treat for us because of the high price of the meal.
Beautiful place, the old woodwork is incredible, the food was top notch. Our server Katrina was spot on and we didn't have to wait for anything, we stayed for 2 hours and never felt rushed. This is a great place for that special occasion not a place for everyday dining, at least not for my budget. Look forward to visiting again.
THe food was great and our server was great and she knew about the specials, the meal and was very knowlegable with wines and everything else. Highly recommend it.
Should have used a larger coupon.
The Briarhurst Manor is a beautiful 1800's estate. Food was prepared & presented beautifully and the staff was very professional and cared about our enjoyment.
Previous reviews were dead wrong. The food was great and the service was top drawer.
Server was amazing the food was very good.
It wasn't clear before arriving that the entree could only be ordered as part of a 4 course meal, which was more food than we wished to have. They had very limited availability, and it was apparently due to table inventory restricted to Opentable.com. As a result, our phone-in reservations was 90 minutes earlier than we wanted to and had empty tables around us all night! And, they were out of their one of their signature dishes 30 minutes after they opened up on a Friday night. Finally, their after dinner coffee took 25 minutes to arrive. So, great food, server was one of the best, but they seem to be struggling on how to organize the running of a restaurant.
wonderful experience
The food wasn't as excellent as the last time I dined here. For the price I expect excellence.
Hannah was our server. My husband and I both agreed that we have not had such attentive and thorough service in a very long time. She was so kind and thorough. Please extend this message to her. Thank you, Linda Musselman
excellent
the building is great, the food was good & the waiter was great.
Wonderful 1800's estate that is now 9 small dining rooms. Intimate 4 course meals served of very high quality. Well worth going to for a truly fine dining experience
The service was excellent and the food was top notch. The atmosphere was definitely conducive to conversation, but was a little too quiet at times. My wife and I will definitely return for special occasion dinners.
This place is excellent and we love going there; while I only rated the food as good this time, most of the time it is superior and even this time, some of the dishes were really excellent.
Awesome restaurant! Will definitely eat here again!
Briarhurst Manor is a beautiful Victorian estate with a rich history of ghost sightings. We first heard about them on an episode of Ghost Hunters. It was a wonderful experience.
It took about an hour before we had our main meal. We do not remember it taking this long before, and this was the first time we were in a hurry. We mentioned to our server we needed to leave latest by 7:05, and our main meal was served at 6:55. We arrived at 6pm. I trust this was a rare happening.
Our server Aaron was very good.
Atmosphere could be improved. Food was average for the cost. Excellent service.
Outstanding dining experience!
This was an unusual, unfortunate experience there; however, it was so bad we asked for a refund and received it.
We had the best time thank you
Sean was awesome! The property was stunning!
Terrific food and great service!
Exceptional food, service and surroundings. A very special restaurant to revisit for a special occasion.
WE WERE ON VACATION IN MANITOU SPRINGS AND WANTED A REALLY NICE DINNER. IT WAS WONDERFUL!
